At the invitation of Vizag Bishop, the 1990 Provincial Chapter, the Provincial Council decided to star t a new Redemptorist house in Andhra Pradesh. After seeing different places shown by the Bishop, Fr. Xavier and Fr. Marreddy selected Pedamanapuram to star t their new foundation. With the permission of the Most Rev. Dr. K Mariadas, on 1st August, 1991, the parish of Pedamanapuram was taken by the Redemptorists from the Diocese. The inauguration and the blessing of the new house took place on 9th December 1994 in the presence of Fr. Jose Fonseca, the Provincial Superior of the Redemptorist community and Bishop Mariadas. The Redemptorist community has been zealously involved in the parish apostolate as well as the preaching ministry such as school and college retreats, parish missions and retreats for priests and religious in Andhra Pradesh as a way of preaching the Gospel.
