Church of the Cross of Miracles Cruz Dos Milagres

In the 17th century, people of Old Goa reported spotting a human figure resembling the image of crucified Jesus on a hill. Following this, a few people also reported miraculous cures. A canonical investigation classified these as supernatural cures and thus began the story of the Church of the Cross of Miracles. Ever since then, this building on Boa Vista hill has been abandoned, destroyed and rebuilt a few times over. This is the church where the Indian saint, St. Joseph Vaz served as an oratorian. It is worth a visit to enjoy an almost secluded hike on Boa Vista hill that is surrounded by dense tree cover. You can also spot St. Augustines Tower and Se Cathedral jutting over the trees from the hilltop. Though the church seems to follow the regular laterite rock and lime-plaster construction pattern common to other similar buildings, the monastery building (Headquarters of the Oratorians of Goa) seems modern and is bigger than the church. Its annual feast is held on the 29th November, while devotees also observe a mass on 23rd day of each month. This site is also referred to as the Spiritual Renewal Center.
