he genesis of Vasai Parish: The Year 1959 marked the origin of the parish. It began with Seven Orthodox Christian families residing in Vasai and members of St. Mary’s OSC Dadar, desiring to preserve the Malankara Orthodox tradition in Vasai and establishing a prayer group under the presidentship of Rev. Fr. K. K. Punnose (Late H. G. Stephanos Mar Theodosious) The beginnings saw a priest from Dadar parish occasionally visiting Vasai and conducting prayer meetings. With the efforts of the Dadar parish, a plot of 567 sq. meter area was acquired by the Orthodox community in the year 1964. Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. C. V. John, H. G. Dr. Philipose Mar Theophilos visited Vasai in 1979 and declared it as a new parish under the apostolic name of St. Thomas and under the Vicar-ship of Rev. Fr. Thomas Kurian. Subsequently Rev. Fr. M. T. Easo was appointed as the next vicar and he, in his tenure, laid the foundation stone for the church. The parish was registered in 1980 and the construction of the church building got completed in 1983.
