As per the vision of the Almighty God, the pastor and the Elders of St. James church, Ullagaram pastorate decided to start a church at Ram Nagar north avenue. They met Bro. Ruban and discussed about this new proposal and as per his suggestion, they contacted Bro. Benjamin a veteran CSI member he readily agreed for it and on 1.2.2004 at No. 5042 , Ram Nagar 5th Street , Puzhuthivakkam , Chennai -91, established a thatched shed on his house terrace where the Prayer Center was established. With a few congregation from St. James church, the Rev. D.J.E. Davidson started it and every Sunday evening people used to gather and worship the lord in the terrace.
On 6.2.2005 this prayer house completed the first anniversary and was named as St. John’s church with 4 families, in the same year Bro. Sampath was appointed as a missionary through our Diocese.
On 2007 our church was given the Full Constitutional Rights by our beloved Bishop Rt.Rev. V. Devasagayam. By the grace of God and by the relentless work of our pastor Rev. D.J.E. Davidson, along with the support of CSI St. James congregation both physically and monetarily the land was purchased and registered on 24.8.2007. with CSI diocese . Consequently a foundation stone was laid for the construction.
Under the leadership of Rev. Charles Prabakaran the new church was consecrated by our Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Devasahayam on 14.2.2009.
From once a small thatched Prayer Centre with 4 families, today it stands tall on the Velachery-Vanumpet bypass with 45 families and now has completed 5 Holy years !
