The Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church mourns as the Metropolitan His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan is taken away to be with Our Lord at 2:38 AM on 18.10.2020 at the Believers Church Medical College Hospital, Thiruvalla. The Mar Thoma Church will ever remember with gratitude to God the outstanding leadership of His Grace during the past thirteen years as Metropolitan and sixty three years of priestly ministry.
The mortal remains is being shifted to SCS Campus and wíll be kept at Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan Smaraka Auditorium for viewing from 8 AM on 18.10.2020.
St. Thomas was one of the disciples who were with Jesus Christ when the above commission was given to them by the Lord. Thus being sent as an apostle, Thomas set out to India. According to Indian tradition he reached the Malabar Coast at Craganoor (Kodungalloor) in the year 52 A.D.
