The St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, Northern Ireland was started as a congregation in 2004 under the spiritual guidance of the Rev. Sister Deena and Rev Fr Abraham Thomas (the vicar of St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, London at the time). The First Holy Qurbana was celebrated by Fr. Abraham Thomas at Shalom House, North Belfast, on 24th October 2004.

The St. Gregorios Indian Othodox Church, Northern Ireland is one of the 30 churches in the United Kingdom and comes under the Diocese of UK, Europe and Africa of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The Indian Orthodox Church, also known as the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church is an Apostolic Church founded by St. Thomas one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ, who came to India in 52 AD and it belongs to the Oriental Orthodox family.
