In November 1983, The FIRST Holy Eucharist according to Syrian Orthodox tradition was conducted by Rev. Fr. M. T. Kurian in South Florida. On Sunday December 18, 1983, after Holy Eucharist Service by the visiting priest Rev. Fr. Joy Pyngolil, a few members met at the house of Mr. Mohan Mathen to discuss the formation of a congregation and prayer meeting. Thus, the St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Congregation was formed. American Diocesan Metropolitan His Grace Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios appointed Rev. Fr. Johnny George as the First Vicar of St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Church of India, South Florida. Subsequently, Rev. Fr. Yesudasan Pappan, Rev. Fr. Daniel Pulleli, Rev. Fr. George John,Rev. Fr. P. M. Zachariah, Rev. Fr. George Daniel, Rev. Fr. Johnson Pappachan and Rev. Fr. Joseph Kalapurayil were appointed as the vicars of this parish by the Diocesan Metropolitans. With the grace of God, the guidance of Vicar Rev. Fr. Joseph Kalapurayil, unceasing prayers and financial support of all members, we are blessed with a beautiful permanent worship facility in Pompano Beach.
