About us
Sehion Mar Thoma Church is the newest addition to the Mar Thoma church community of Dallas/Fort Worth. This Church was inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos, Episcopa on July 25th, 2004 to meet the spiritual needs of the growing Indian community living in the north eastern parts of the Dallas Metropolitan area. Sehion Mar Thoma church is a member of the Diocese of North America and Europe of the Mar Thoma Syrian Christian Church of Malabar.
Sehion Mar Thoma Church is primarily focused on serving the spiritual needs of Mar Thoma Christians in the North Eastern Dallas area and Christian evangelism in the local community. This church plays an important role in passing our faith and beliefs to our future generation. In particular, this church helps families become active participants in sunday school and various other church organizations. To serve the growing need of our current members and future considerations for our ministry, we purchased 4.17 acres of land at the intersection of 14th street and Shiloh Road in Plano, TX on November 18, 2005. We were able to hold a very successful ground breaking ceremony on July 14, 2007 to start the initial construction process of our new facility. The foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Church and Parsonage were celebrated on January 1st 2008. The ceremony was blessed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos Diocesan Episcopa.
By the Grace of Almighty God,the consecration of the newly built sanctuary of the Sehion Mar Thoma Church, Dallas was held on Saturday Jan 17, 2008 at 02:00pm. The ceremony began with a procession and song Senayin Yehovaye… followed by the request submitted by the Vicar and Trustees requesting the Diocesan Episcopa to consecrate the church building on behalf of the Metropolitan. A public meeting was followed after the consecration service which was also presided by the Diocesan Episcopa Mar Theodosius. The distinguished leaders from sister churches and dignitaries from civil organizations/institutions graced the occasion. Members representing different Mar Thoma parishes and sister churches attended the solemn ceremony along with the local parishioners.
