Mar Thoma Mumbai Diocese

The Mumbai Diocese encompasses the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa in the western region of India and regions in the Sultanate of Oman. Presently the various centers in this Diocese account for 59 Parishes and 14 congregations.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Episcopa is the Diocesan Bishop. There are 60 members of the clergy serving in this Diocese. Rev. Gigy Thomas is the Diocesan Secretary while Mr. P. K. Achankunju serves as the Diocesan Treasurer.
The Church in this western region of the country spreads over an increasingly multilingual, multicultural, and pluralistic context. It serves as an example of Christ taught love for all humanity.
This Diocese is known as the Missionary Diocese. The mission work is given utmost importance and various mission projects are taken up by the Diocese. The Mission activities of the Diocese are spread over
the State of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Evangelistic Association of the Church is continuing the Mission work in Goa. As a Diocese, we are reaching out to more than 300 villages in rural areas and in tribal belts
through more than 40 Evangelists, coordinators, and the Missionary Achen. In addition to the above, the various mission fields are supported by the parishes. Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati are the major languages in
which worship is being held. Mar Chrysostom Ashram, Kamshet has ample amenities for hosting camps and conferences. The Bible school equips the evangelists.
Navjeevan Centre is entering into its 25th year of existence literally putting God’s love into action. From its humble beginnings with programs for women; children in the red streets of Mumbai, we continue to persevere in making a positive difference in the lives of women and children in these areas. Navjeevan, the family has strived to be the embodiment of Christ’s love and acceptance towards such stigmatized sections of society.
Navodaya Movement is a contemporary initiative on the part of the church to be a voice for the voiceless.
