Sam Daniel is an independent recording artist, musician, song-writer, producer, worship leader and speaker. Sam is married to Naomi, who is also a singer/songwriter, and they currently reside in London, UK. They are both planted at City of Lights Church, where Sam heads up the worship ministry. As of 2015, Sam has been faithfully ministering around the nations through his gift in leading spontaneous & prophetic worship in which many have encountered the presence of God. His heart is for all to experience and know Jesus personally. Being a culture shifter, the music he creates brings those of different tribes and tongues together as an act of unity, which is reflected within his sound. He currently directs the worship team and also plays a key role in the leadership team at Naujavan – an international youth organisation. He is also the founder of Revival Sounds, a production company and record label that is pioneering and raising up artists and musicians to become world changers. Together Sam and Naomi visit churches, schools, universities, prisons and conferences where they lead worship, train worship teams, share their testimonies of faith and disciple young people.
Sam has been involved in the music industry for over 12 years. His sound comes from an influence of Hip Hop, Grime, Contemporary Worship, Gospel, Pop, Film Score, and Indian Classical music. He began to create compositions, write lyrics and rap in 2006. He developed his skills as a recording artist and musician, which then led him to find opportunities as a session musician for many established artists, some with worldwide billboard success. Self taught, Sam eventually began mixing, mastering and producing music for singles, albums, radio and TV adverts. He had written songs that contributed toward the ever-growing Tamil independent music industry. In 2008, Sam had a spiritual encounter which changed his life and became a born again Christian. An already proficient keys player, he began to expand the variety of instruments he played over the next couple of years at his local church, where He also developed into a worship leader and music director. He had released an array of Christian rap music, played and sung in live album recordings, and had produced music for independent artists and bands across Europe and South Asia.
But it wasn’t until his Single “Yeshuve (Bhangra Remix)” was released in June 2012 that Sam began to get recognised outside his own circles. The track was released under his former stage name ‘Da Sargeant’, and featured seven other artists performing in six different languages; Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Punjabi, Telegu and English. This Single was the first time such a record had been produced and for Sam, this was a glimpse of how much music could be used to unify people, even across language barriers. This remix version was then catapulted to the iTunes charts at number 4.
Over the next five years, Sam found his music beginning to circulate airplay on mainstream radio stations across Europe, had numerous interviews with major magazines and had the opportunity to play across the UK, Canada, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Romania, Sri Lanka and India. His first major tour of the UK ran in 2015 where he visited over 30 different cities. Sam felt that his calling lay in creating worship music for the vast array of people he had come to know. In May of 2015, He released his next Single, “Who Is Like You (None Can Compare)” featuring Jaye Thomas of IHOP, Kansas City. This track had also hit the US iTunes Christian Charts as well peaking at number 4. “Who is like You” has a gospel sound, a lot different to anything that he had previously released.
Sam’s debut album “Love & Grace” was released the following year in 2016, which had over 100 different people contributing toward its production. The album features artists from around the world including Ccippo (Zambia) and VJ Traven (India). Many of the tracks released on this album had been written and produced from as early as 2012. Sam had already embraced the idea of different languages on the album but decided to expand his vision by introducing a wide array of fusion genres within its 10 tracks: from Contemporary Worship and Gospel, Afrobeats with flavours of R&B, Pop, Classical, Carnatic music and even Heavy Metal. Through this album Sam gained some credentials by being featured on The MOBO Awards’ Website. A blurb written by his team was featured inside the front cover of the physical album. The statement reads: “An album that has brought many communities together. An album that cannot be defined by culture or genre. An album that projects the sound of many nations. An album of many trials and risks. An album of its own kind, never to have been attempted before. An album that will challenge your thinking, both musically, and spiritually. These are songs of influence, hope, praise and inspiration. Sam Daniel is an artist who is strategically-led by the Spirit of the Lord
