Rev. Dr. John K. Mathew is a man of sincere faith who has a genuine love for God’s people and honors the call the Lord has placed upon him to share the gospel of Christ with others. He is being used in the mighty hands of God as a proven leader and well-known preacher, teacher, writer and author of the famous book, “First Century Ministry in the Twenty First Century.”
Pastor Mathew says his encouragement to be in the vineyard came from his parents, late Pastor & Mrs. K.T Mathew, who showed deep faith in the Lord and commitment to serve others with humility and honesty, despite facing many struggles and adversities. The dynamic ministry of his brother, Rev. Dr. Thomson K. Mathew, also influenced him significantly.
Rev. Mathew completed his postgraduate degrees in History and Sociology at Kerala University. Before coming to the United States, he was on the faculty at India Bible College, Kumbanad, Kerala, and served as chief editor of the monthly publication, “The Trumpet.”
After serving a couple of years as the Senior Pastor of India Christian Assembly, Pasadena, Texas, he pursued his education with Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma and earned his MA degree in Christian Education. Later, Rev. Mathew moved to Los Angeles, California and served as an Associate Pastor of Calvary Hosanna Korean church for four years. In 2006, he was appointed as the Senior Pastor of Indian Pentecostal Church, Hebron, Los Angeles, and served in this capacity until 2011. Along with his pastoral ministry in California, Rev. Mathew continued his education at Biola University and earned his Doctorate in Intercultural Education.
In 2011, Dr. Mathew returned to Kerala to strengthen the work in I.P.C. Mavelikara (W) district, where he has been serving as the District Minister. During this time he also served as the Vice Principal of the English Section of the India Bible College and Seminary, Kumbanad, and as chief editor of the monthly, “Revive.”
Rev. Dr. John K Mathew served as the Senior Pastor of IPC Tabernacle, Dallas from 2013-2018. He assumed the Senior Pastor position Calvary Pentecostal Church, Dallas in July 2019. As Pastor of our assembly, he has a vision to see God’s will fulfilled through effective ministry. He knows the importance of restoring people, saving souls and giving people purpose and direction in their lives. He is committed to going the extra mile to guide people to wholeness and completeness in Christ and to provide a ministry where there is total freedom to worship and praise God.
His wife Shirley provides great strength and support to his ministry.
